Easter Blessings

She's home! On Saturday the doctors decided to let my mom come home to be with our family over Easter weekend. What a memorable Easter it was! I called her as she was driving away from the hospital with my dad and she kept commenting on the beauty of the landscape. I guess staring at four hospital walls for 35 days makes one appreciate the small things that many times go unnoticed when they become part of our daily lives...like flowers and rain and chirping birds and home-cooked meals and sunsets ... and on and on and on. My old college Rhetoric professor called this the "Joy of Discovery" - seeing things that you see every day with fresh eyes as if you had just discovered it for the first time. So, moral of the story: don't let the beauty of God's crazy amazing Creation pass you by without standing still in awe and wonder every once in awhile!

One of our dear family friends brought the whole Beall gang Italian food on Saturday night and we had a celebratory homecoming for my sweet ma! And today - I don't think any of us will ever forget this Easter blessing. I couldn't have asked for a better gift - to see our family gathered around the table giving thanks to Christ for His many blessings... I think my mom said it best in her Easter dinner prayer (which she insisted on giving). So we all held hands and waited for her to pray through her emotion: "Thank you Lord for life and for second chances. Thank you for my precious family. And thank you for the small things. For trees and for mountains ... " We're all pretty much emotional time bombs at this point - and I don't think mom's sweet simple prayer left a dry eye at the table.

She goes in to the hospital tomorrow (Monday, 3/24) for more blood tests to see if she is able to stay at home and do outpatient treatment or if she will have to be re-admitted for inpatient. Will keep you posted as we know more. As far as her counts are concerned, they are steadily stabilizing and will hopefully continue to do so until she is able to get her bone marrow transplant.

What a beautiful Easter we have had today!
Once again, thank you all for your amazing love and support.
And thank you, Lord, for trees and for mountains. Amen.

Pam, I just felt it in my bones that you were able to go home to be with your family for Easter. I controlled myself from calling and interrupting your visit. What a wonderful gift for all of you. The picture of you is adorable.

Lindsay, I so appreciate your blogs--although I cried as I read the "Easter Blessings." How right you are that we take everything for granted. I will do my best to look at things with 'different eyes' from now on.

Love you, Pamela Sue

Pam --

Such wonderful news about your homecoming in time for Easter! I called on your cell phone a few days ago, hoping to hear your sweet voice, but reached your voice mail. Hope you got my message. I continue to haunt the blog looking for news of you -- Lindsay may have no idea how MUCH it means to everyone to be able to keep up with your progress!

Keep up the good work, and we'll keep thinking about you and praying for you.

Much love, Judy

Wow! Where's the kleenex? What a beautiful report Lindsay. Once again I thank you dear girl for your keeping us informed.

Pam, your picture is so cute! I bet it feels so good to be home. I loved hearing about your response to all the beauty around you. Portland is so gorgeous this time of year. And I loved hearing you had all the family to Easter dinner, that you used your china, played games, etc., etc. God is so good!

Well dear ones, I'll be eagerly awaiting the next bit of news.

Love you all,
Dianne

Hi Pam,

It has been a LONG time since you have heard from me! Kyle just told me about all that has been happening and sent me a link to your blog. My heart is touched in SO many ways by reading through your blog! The beautiful way you express your faith is very encouraging! I will be praying for you, Pam! I have been blown away by God's incredible HEALING power and I pray that over your body. What an amazing metaphor that you were able to celebrate Easter with your family. I will be praying for you, Pam! I know my mom will as well!

Much love to you!

Lindsay, you have a beautiful way of expressing yourself, and we all appreciate you keeping us informed. Although I'm thrilled with Pam's progress, I admit I had to wipe my eyes as I read her Easter blessing.

Pam, you are just as adorable as always, inside and out, and it helps those of us who can't be with you to see your warm smile and hear about you seeing your surroundings with renewed joy. Your example encourages me to make an honest effort to better appreciate my own environment. Thank you for that.

We will soon be headed for Hot Springs, Arkansas, so will be out of the loop for awhile. Nonetheless, we will continue to keep you and your family in our prayers.
Love,
Denie

Pam, I have tried for weeks to make this blog thing work! I did get info from Ginger 3 weeks ago that helped. However, none of my messages have gotten through. Anyway thanks so much to Lindsay as Jack and I have been able to pray exactly as needed along with all of your other friends and family. What a blessing that you got those beautiful days to celebrate Easter together!! You have been on quite a journey but you would never know it from your picture. What a joy you are to all of us. Love, Patty

Wonderful news for all! Love your photo, Pam. You're smile is the best. Leaving beautiful Santa Barbara today...You know, loose ends pre wedding. Think of you often. Thanks, Lindsay, again for the wonderful updates. Take care, mn

Pam--I was so excited about your Easter. Every day I visualize your T cells scaveging up all the bad cells, so that the new can live and thrive. In my minds eye these T cells are purple because they represent our Kings robe of purple that covers all of us and especially every detail of what is going on in your body and life. There must be so many prayers being lifted upwards into the heavens just like reverse raindrops--so many of them that you cannot count them all. Bye for now. I love you, Cherri

Dear Pam,
Its April 2nd today and look how far you've come... with God alongside! I am so happy for you and when I saw that cute picture of you and your big smile...I could feel your joy shining through.
Lindsay, I must "thank you" for the blog...its so nice to check in and see your Moms progress. Your amazing warmth and personality
come through...She is blessed indeed.
This morning as I take "Harlee" the dog for her walk I will listen for the birds, look at the mountains and enjoy the pure sweet air just a little more.
"PWP"...prayer works Pamela!
Love, joy and Gods anointing,
Sherry
